Reviews of the Best Bamboo Towels for 2022

You can find bamboo towels in a variety of sizes and colors to match your bathroom accent and drying preference.

I chose these to be the best for the following reasons:

  • Absorbency
  • Softness
  • Durability
  • Thickness
  • Drying Time

1. Cariloha “Best Overall Bamboo Towel”

I chose the Cariloha bamboo towel as the “Best Overall” because it was the softest and most absorbent of all the towels I’ve tried.

It is available in several sizes, from large bath towels to small towels for your hands and face. It is also the perfect weight compared to the other brands I’ve tried, not too thick and not too thin. Finally, you can find them in several neutral colors either here on or on Amazon.

  • Moisture-wicking
  • Odor-resistant
  • Super soft
  • Machine-wash safe
  • Higher price than other bamboo towels

Overall, the Cariloha bath towel is soft, dries fast, and is very absorbent. The only thing I don’t like about this towel is the price. However, they sometimes run deals and specials on their site, if you want to save a few dollars.

2. Ariv Collection “Most Durable”

The Ariv bamboo towels have a higher cotton-to-bamboo ratio (30% bamboo / 70% cotton) and aren’t as soft as the ones by Cariloha. The added cotton fabric makes this very durable and didn’t show as much wear and tear compared to the towels with a higher bamboo ratio.

I wish they were a little more absorbent, but they dry quickly and are still very soft. If you’re looking for an easy-to-care-for towel that’s on the more affordable side, this is it!

  • Durable
  • Affordable
  • Mildew Resistant
  • Not as soft
  • Only available on Amazon

Overall, the bamboo towels from Ariv Collection are a great value and some of the most durable ones I’ve tried. They’re not as soft as ones with more bamboo, but still softer than pure cotton towels. You can only find them on Amazon, so you’re limited in the available sizes and color options to choose from.

3. Aibaser “Softest Bamboo Bath Towels”

I decided to add the Aibaser towels to my reviews because I got so many requests for them. These bamboo bath towels are absorbent, soft, and gentle on the skin, but more lightweight than other brands. The only downside is that they’re thinner than others, yet still just as absorbent.

  • Absorbent and Soft
  • Machine Washable
  • Dries Quickly
  • Lightweight
  • It may be too thin for some
  • Only available in a 6-piece set

Overall, Aibaser’s bamboo towels are very thin and lightweight. They may not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a bath towel that’s easy to take with you on the go, this is perfect! If you prefer a thicker towel, you should consider one of the others I mentioned above.

4. Brooklyn Bamboo “Most Eco-Friendly”

These towels by Brooklyn Bamboo are 100% organic bamboo which makes them super soft and eco-friendly.

Using a cotton/bamboo blend adds weight to a towel, so this one is on the lighter side. Another drawback I found was it stayed wet longer and didn’t dry as quickly. But it still dried fast enough to not feel damp after a couple of hours or so.

The different colors are gorgeous and if you’re looking for durability combined with eco-friendly properties, these are your best choice!

  • 100% Organic Bamboo
  • Eco-Friendly
  • Super-Soft
  • Gentle on Skin
  • Thin and lightweight

Overall, the Brooklyn Bamboo bath towel is a great choice for everyday use. It’s super soft and gentle on your skin. It took longer to dry compared to other brands, but it’s still an excellent choice for light use.

5. JML “Most Absorbent”

The JML towel is the most absorbent bamboo towel I’ve tried so far. The 90% bamboo and 10% cotton ratio seems to be the perfect blend for absorbency. It also feels very soft and luxurious on the skin.

You can only get these on Amazon in 2-piece sets and they only come in one size, 27″ x 54″. But they were very easy to care for and JML also provided a free laundry bag so I can wash them in.

  • Super Absorbent
  • Soft and Luxurious
  • Free Pillowcase
  • Only available in a 2-piece set

Overall, JML’s bamboo towels are the softest and most absorbent ones in my reviews. Even though they only come in a 2-piece set, they’re still very affordable. Plus, JML was kind enough to give me a free laundry bag with my purchase.

6. Yoofoss “Best Bamboo Washcloths”

Looking for something soft and gentle on your skin, but sturdy enough to get the job done? I use Yoofoss’s bamboo washcloths for everything! They’re super soft and absorbent, plus they’re really great at getting deep into my pores. I use a different color for each family member, to keep track of whose washcloth is who’s. So, I bought the multicolor 10-pack, but you can also order all the same color.

They are durable enough to withstand daily use, plus I can toss them in the washing machine and dryer once a week. They did start to develop loose strands after about the 5th time I washed them. Since they only cost about $1 each, I decided to replace them with a new set after 6 months.

  • Absorbent
  • Gentle on Your Face and Skin
  • Machine Washable
  • Affordable
  • Only available on Amazon

Overall, Yoofoss’s bamboo washcloths are perfect for everyday use. They’re super absorbent and gentle on your skin, plus you can toss them in the washing machine once a week to keep them clean.

7. Loran “Best Facial Towels”

Not everyone is looking for a bath towel, so I wanted to include the Loran facial towels as well. They’re ultra-soft and gentle enough to use as a facial towel as well as a hand towel. They come in a set of 6 and are the same size as the washcloths by Yoofoos.

Bamboo towels dry quickly and stay fresh longer than cotton, even if you leave them on the counter for a couple of days. I love using these towels to take off my makeup at night and in the morning when I wake up but you can also use them to dry your hands.

  • No Harsh Dyes
  • Comes in a Gift Box
  • Perfect Size for Face
  • Stain very easily
  • Only available in white

The Loran facial towels have been a long-time favorite of mine and are perfect for makeup removal. The bamboo fabric absorbs all the makeup without leaving any residue, plus it’s softer than cotton towels. I love how soft they are, but, since they are only available in white, they end up staining very quickly.

Choosing the Right Bamboo Towel

Now that we have gone over my top picks, let’s go over some of the factors that you should consider when choosing a bamboo towel.

The most important feature of a bamboo towel is its absorbency. You’ll want to choose a towel that will absorb moisture quickly and effectively without allowing too much water to remain on your body.

Are bamboo towels absorbent?

Bamboo towels can absorb 3 to 4 times more water than cotton towels. They can dry your body faster and more effectively, without having to be as thick or plush. This makes them perfect for bath towels and hand towels.

Bamboo towels come in different degrees of softness, depending on the materials blended with bamboo fiber. You’ll want to choose a towel that feels soft and gentle against your skin without irritating it.

Are bamboo towels soft?

Bamboo towels made with 100% bamboo fabric are softer than ones made with a cotton and bamboo blend. In general, cotton fabrics are blended with bamboo to increase the durability of the towel, at the cost of sacrificing some softness.

You’ll want to choose a towel that can withstand repeated washing and drying. Bamboo towels typically last longer than cotton ones, but you still want to find the right balance between durability and softness.

How long will bamboo towels last?

You can expect your bamboo towel to last between 2 to 3 years with normal use. You will begin to see some signs of normal wear and tear after about 6 months. Loose threads and pilling are just minor signs of wear. However, once you start to see signs of holes or major fabric damage, it’s time to get a new towel.

Bamboo towels come in several different thickness levels, the more cotton in the blend, the thicker it will be. Thicker towels are heavier and might be too bulky for some. Towels made with 100% bamboo are sometimes considered to be too thin for some people but are perfect for anyone who prefers a lighter-weight towel.

Are bamboo towels fluffy?

Bamboo towels are thinner than cotton towels and aren’t as fluffy or plush. This is one of the biggest issues customers complain about with their new bamboo towels; “They are too thin”! If you prefer a fluffier bamboo towel, get one with a high cotton content; 30% cotton or more.

Drying Time

Since bamboo fabrics absorb and hold a larger amount of water, it will naturally take your bamboo towel a much longer time to dry and be ready for use again. Hanging it across a towel rack or outside on a clothesline will help it to dry faster.

Do bamboo towels take a long time to dry?

In general, the more moisture your bamboo towel absorbs, the longer it will take to dry afterward. Consequently, 100% bamboo towels will take longer to dry because they absorb more water than blended ones.

Bamboo towels are some of the most eco-friendly choices you can make while shopping for your bath accessories. They are naturally antibacterial and don’t need to be treated with chlorine or other harsh chemicals. They absorb more moisture than cotton and are much softer as well.

After trying out different bamboo towels the past few years, I found Cariloha’s bamboo towel to be the best overall. It was softer than most other brands and absorbent enough to dry me quickly without feeling too bulky. The size and weight were perfect for daily use and it held up to multiple washes and dryings.
