Going green is becoming more popular each day, and bamboo sheets are a great way to do your part.
It is important to note that bamboo sheets are not just green – they have plenty of other benefits too.
I’ve been sleeping on bamboo sheets since 2017, and I fell in love with them after the first night’s sleep! Since then, my husband and I have been reviewing and testing all types of bamboo products.
If you’re still on the fence about whether or not to buy a set of bamboo sheets, this article is for you! Today, I’ll be sharing with you nine benefits of bamboo sheets that make them worth buying!
What Are the Benefits of Bamboo Sheets?
Bamboo sheets have many benefits and features that make them better than most other types of bedding.
Here is a list of the main benefits of bamboo sheets:
- Softer than Egyptian Cotton
- Temperature Regulating
- Antibacterial and Odor Resistant
- Hypoallergenic
- Dust-Mite Resistant
- Easy to Care For
- Cooling and Breathable
- Wicks Away Moisture
- Strong and Durable
I will explain each of these benefits in more detail below.
1. Softer than Egyptian Cotton
Bamboo sheets are soft. In fact, they’re even softer than Egyptian cotton! I couldn’t imagine what kind of fabric could possibly be softer than Egyptian cotton until I tried bamboo sheets.
It can be difficult to explain just how soft bamboo sheets are, so I’d recommend going to a store and touching a set for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
2. Temperature Regulating
Bamboo sheets can regulate your body’s temperature to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
If you sleep hot, you should consider trying some cool bamboo underwear that is an excellent choice for keeping you cool at night. I know this because I suffer from night sweats. I found bamboo clothing to be much more effective at keeping me cooler than other fabrics.
3. Antibacterial and Odor Resistant
Thanks to a bio-agent found in bamboo called “Bamboo Kun“, bamboo is one of the most antibacterial fabrics on the market today. It can fight and prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria better than most other fabrics, making it much easier to keep your sheets smelling fresh for longer.
In most cases, you can get away with washing your bamboo sheets once every other week. As a busy mom, I appreciate that!
4. Hypoallergenic
This is another great benefit that makes bamboo sheets better for people with allergies or sensitive skin.
Bamboo sheets are very smooth and gentle on the skin, which is particularly beneficial for people with sensitive skin.
5. Dust-Mite Resistant
One of my favorite things about bamboo sheets is that they’re dust-mite resistant! Dust mites thrive in humid and warm environments. You can find them deep within the fabric of furniture and in between the fibers of bedsheets. It’s hard to get rid of them, even with regular cleaning.
As a result, dust mites can cause allergic reactions like sneezing and coughing. By sleeping on bamboo sheets, you’ll be less likely to suffer from these irritating effects!
6. Easy to Care For
Bamboo is very easy to care for, and you don’t need to worry about using special products when cleaning it.
You only need to put your bamboo sheets in the washing machine and set it to “delicates” or cold water if you want to be extra careful. You can then tumble dry low, but I like to hang mine outside if the weather allows it!
7. Cooling and Breathable
One of the unique features of bamboo is that it can absorb moisture more effectively than most other fabrics. It has twice the absorbency of cotton and polyester and can wick away moisture better as well.
If you suffer from night sweats, this is another benefit that makes bamboo sheets perfect for you.
8. Wicks Away Moisture
I’ve already mentioned that bamboo sheets are very absorbent. However, there’s actually another way in which bamboo can help keep you cool at night.
When your body perspires, the moisture can create an uncomfortable environment for you to sleep in. Bamboo sheets can wick away moisture from your body and help regulate your body temperature.
You’ll wake up feeling more refreshed and less tired if you sleep on bamboo sheets!
9. Strong & Durable
Bamboo is one of the most durable fabrics on the market today. Taking care of them is pretty straightforward and easy. I’ve put together a guide to washing bamboo sheets for you, so be sure to check it out!
In addition, bamboo sheets are stronger than cotton and polyester. Compared to other fabrics, they’re also less prone to wear and tear and discoloration in the long run.
They can last for years despite their thin appearance, making them one of the best investments you can make in your bedroom’s decor.
Final Thoughts
Choosing bamboo sheets over cotton is one of the best decisions I have ever made! Cotton can be scratchy and uncomfortable, but not bamboo. It’s strong enough to last you for years to come but soft enough that it won’t irritate your skin in any way.
I’ve been using my bamboo sheets every night for the past year, and they still look just as good as the day I bought them.
