I had the pleasure of reviewing a set of bamboo sheets from Layla Sleep. These sheets have been my favorite for the last year, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you!
What are bamboo sheets?
Bamboo sheets are a unique kind of bedding, made from bamboo fiber. This fiber is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic, making them perfect for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
Bamboo fibers are also breathable; they keep you cool in summer and warm in winter! These natural fibers come together to create very soft sheets. They feel like a dream!
Layla Sleep Bamboo Sheets Review
Now that you know a little bit about bamboo sheets, let me tell you all about the ones I received from Layla Sleep.
When they arrived, they were neatly folded in a luxurious gift box. This was very convenient because it kept them from wrinkling during shipping and I could just wrap them up if I was buying them as a gift for someone else!
It’s a good idea to keep the box to store them in when you’re not using them too.
How they fit
Putting the sheets on my bed was simple; they are easy to slide onto a mattress and close with a tight-fitting elastic band. The fitted sheet is true to size, with deep pockets that needed some extra effort to fit over my mattress.
The flat sheet is wide enough that I can tuck it in around the mattress without any trouble. This ensures that my comforter stays tucked in and neat all night long.
The bamboo pillow cases are generous. They have enough room for my standard pillows to fit in without a struggle, and also accommodate my thicker memory foam pillow very well!
My Layla Sheets are SO soft. I love that these sheets are hypoallergenic and antibacterial because as a person with allergies, this means I don’t have any trouble when I sleep on these sheets like I do with standard cotton sheets.
The bottom sheet is also tightly woven, which helps prevent wrinkles and keeps it looking just as nice when you wake up in the morning as it did when you went to bed. The tight weave also keeps the sheet in place, so it doesn’t slip and slide all over the mattress during the night.
Though I’ve been sleeping on my set for a little over a few months now, they have held up very well! Even after many trips through the wash with other linens piled on top of them, these sheets do not snag or tear.
How they feel
Since I only use bamboo bedding now, it’s hard for me to describe what it was like to sleep on standard cotton sheets. I can’t say that they were uncomfortable, but I know that they are much more comfortable than cotton!
These Layla sheets are above average in price, but for the quality and comfort they provide, I think it’s worth it!
Layla Sleep provide a full 5 Year Warranty that covers materials and workmanship. It also covers fraying and the seams due to normal wear and tear. Click here to read more about the warranty.
How to Care for Layla Sheets
I only washed my Layla sheets according to the label instructions—in cold water and dry on low heat. I’m not sure if it makes a difference, but I only use mild detergent that is free of perfumes and dyes.
I’ve also never used fabric softener with any of my bamboo bedding. I have heard that many people find these sheets are not as breathable if you put fabric softener on them, but I don’t know if it’s true or not! The packaging for these sheets suggests you don’t use bleach either.
Since these sheets are made of natural fibers, I didn’t notice any shrinkage after washing them. They fit perfectly!
Layla Sleep Sheets Pros and Cons
What I liked
Soft and Cozy: These are definitely some of the softest sheets I’ve ever tried!
Breathable and Cool: I was worried about how warm these sheets might make me, but they’re great at regulating body temperature. They kept me cool and dry throughout the hot summer nights.
Great value: I think that the price of these sheets is fair, especially with the 5-year warranty they came with.
Hypoallergenic: I have allergies and sometimes I struggle with what sheets to use, but these sheets are hypoallergenic so they didn’t cause any problems!
What I didn’t like
Tight Elastic: I have an extra deep mattress, so the elastic band around the bottom sheet is pretty tight. I’m not sure if this is the norm for these sheets or if my mattress is just too big, but it’s a bit of an inconvenience.
Color choice: At the time of writing this review, Layla Sleep only offered their sheets in either White or Gray.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Layla Sheets Pill?
After using these sheets for a while, I’ve noticed that they are pilling slightly in some places. What is the cause of this?
Pilling happens when the fibers are breaking down over time. It’s not usually a sign of damage but rather a natural occurrence. Since these sheets have a 5-year warranty, you should contact Layla Sleep support to see if they are still under warranty or not.
Are Layla sheets breathable?
Yes. These are some of the best sheets I’ve ever owned in terms of regulating temperatures because they are made from bamboo fibers. The fibers can absorb moisture like sweat and they also have tiny holes that allow air to get through.
What temperature should these sheets be washed at?
Layla Sleep recommends cold water for washing the sheets. They also suggest using a mild detergent free of fragrances and dyes and that you don’t use bleach either.
Are They Worth it?
Yes! They are super soft and comfy. I also like that they provide a 5-year warranty to give you peace of mind when spending more than $150 on bed sheets.
Are They Cool?
Yes. The Layla Sleep sheets feel cool and comfortable against your skin. They’ll also help to keep you dry as you sleep, by wicking away moisture from your skin.
Overall, I would rate the bamboo sheets by Layla Sleep a 9/10. They have definitely met my high expectations, and I am very pleased with their quality! The only thing that would make them even better is if they came in more colors!
