I own both the Coop Original and Coop Eden. Eden is my favorite, but the difference between them is smaller than the price gap may suggest. Both let me change the amount of fill, and both can be made fuller or flatter. What I notice most is the shape around the edge.
My Eden has a gusset that gives it a fuller, boxier profile. My Original tapers toward the edge. I sleep mostly on my side, so I prefer the extra structure of Eden and added more fill to get the height I wanted.
⚡ Quick Answer: Coop Original vs Eden
- My pick: Coop Eden. I prefer its gusseted shape and fuller edge for side sleeping.
- Best value: Coop Original. It gives you the same basic control over the fill and feels close to Eden once adjusted.
- Main difference in my bed: The edge construction, not a dramatic change in softness or cooling.
- Before buying: Check the exact shape and size selected on Coop’s site. The company sells several versions under the Original and Eden names.

This table describes the Classic pillows I compared. Coop also sells cut-out, crescent, and other shapes. Check the selected model before assuming its edge, dimensions, or fill package will match mine.
The gusset is why I prefer Eden
A gusset is the strip of fabric sewn around the side of a pillow. It creates a more defined edge instead of letting the top and bottom panels taper directly into each other.
That construction gives my Eden more room for fill near the sides. It feels fuller when I settle onto it, which suits the space between my shoulder and head when I sleep on my side. The gusset does not set the final height on its own. The amount of fill and how far it compresses still matter more.
The Original is not uncomfortable by comparison. Once I adjust it, the support is close enough that I would not tell someone to replace an Original they already like. Eden is the one I reach for, but Original is the easier recommendation when price matters.

Both pillows can be adjusted
The zipper and removable fill are the most useful features the two pillows share. I can take fill out when a pillow feels too tall or add more when my head sinks too far. This makes either Coop easier to fit than a solid foam pillow with a fixed height.
I needed more fill in my Eden than its starting setup provided. The extra fill solved that. Someone who sleeps on their back or stomach may head in the opposite direction and remove some.
Make changes by the handful, then close the liner and test the pillow on your own mattress. A soft mattress lets your shoulder sink deeper and can change how tall the pillow feels. My bamboo pillow height guide explains that relationship in more detail.

Does Eden feel cooler?
Eden uses gel-infused memory foam, while Original uses Coop’s regular memory foam and microfiber blend. I would not buy Eden on that detail alone. I have not felt a large enough cooling difference between my two pillows to make it the deciding factor.
The pillowcase, protector, room temperature, and how deeply your head sinks into the fill can all change how warm a pillow feels. If heat is your main concern, compare the complete pillow and its return policy instead of relying on the word “gel.”
What happens after washing the cover
I often readjust Eden after washing its removable cover. I wait until the cover is completely dry, put it back on, then spread the fill through the corners and center. I do not automatically add more foam after every wash. Most of the time the existing fill has simply shifted.
Coop’s current instructions say its pillows and covers can be machine washed, but the drying steps matter and product instructions can change. I check the sewn-in label and Coop’s care guide before washing. My bamboo pillow washing guide also separates cover care from fill care so the two are not treated as the same material.
Which one should you buy?
I would buy Eden again because I like the fuller edge and can add enough fill for my side-sleeping position. That is a preference based on the pillows I own, not proof that Eden will fit every sleeper better.
Original is the sensible choice if you want an adjustable Coop pillow for less. Its comfort is not far behind Eden for me, and you still get the feature that matters most: control over the fill.
If neither shape sounds right, my tested bamboo pillow picks include a firm solid-foam option and a softer down-alternative pillow as well.
